Alivox remains at the forefront of language
identification software and services, and has recently
developed accent identification in its latest release.
Alivox’ goal is to facilitate a fundamental change in
telephone call handling by the use of language and
accent knowledge. Its product ALiS (Automatic Language
Identification System) delivers an accurate and fast
language or accent identification of a clip of speech (3
seconds) , both live in real time or recorded. This
global solution is aimed directly at Multilingual Call
Centres and their suppliers, Speech to Text companies,
at the growing Speech Analytics and Voice Recording
Analytics markets.
Alivox is a high tech spinout from the University of
Edinburgh’s world class School of Speech and Language.

Iain Mackintosh
Non-exec Chairman and CEO
Iain has over 30 years of business experience
including strategic direction-setting, company
start-ups, programme management and line management to
board director level. He is also currently chairing
another company and is actively involved in advising a
number of other start ups in the field of Robotics and
IT.
Bilal Akram
Director and COO
Bilal is primarily responsible for overseeing business
activities along with looking into key corporate planning
issues of Alivox. He will also be involved in ensuring
that development and financial targets are met.
Bilal gained extensive development experience at
Higher Summit
Pakistan, developing SMS based software. Prior to that
he was the member of Centre for Research in Urdu and
Language Processing (CRULP) and has worked on a number
of speech and language related projects.
After completing his postgraduate studies from the University
of Edinburgh in Computer Speech and Language Processing,
Bilal studied with the Chevening Technology Enterprise
Programme (CTES) fellowship. This fellowship involved
extensive courses for aspiring entrepreneurs from some
of the most reputed schools in business studies.
Fahd Baig
Director and CTO
Fahd is primarily responsible for the technology
and developmental issues of Alivox; defining long and
short term technology direction as well as keeping a
business focussed oversight of research and development.
Previously he worked with Centre for Research in Urdu
Language Processing (CRULP) in the speech processing
group. As the technology lead he was the main force
behind a number of research and development projects
related to speech recognition in Urdu, speaker recognition
research and Automatic Language Identification. He completed
his postgraduate studies from the University of Edinburgh
in Computer Speech and Language Processing.
David Chisholm
Director of Business Development
David is responsible for the development and delivery,
of the sales and marketing strategy, along with,
creating, developing and maintaining the correct
commercial relationships, which will accelerate Alivox'
growth.
He has extensive
experience with Telecommunications companies and Call
Centre Infrastructure manufacturers, managing high value
bids across different market sectors, as well as being a
successful independent consultant
Chris Galley
Non-exec Director
Chris brings his experience in all aspects of running
IT companies, coupled with over 20 years in the software
industry. Prior to Alivox he founded and ran one of
Scotland's fastest growing IT companies (Deloitte &
Touche Fast 50 for 5 consecutive years) which he sold
in 2004. He has an MA in Computer Science from Cambridge
and an MBA from Edinburgh.
